About

A foundation that prefers the long visit to the loud one.

Mukhya Foundation is a people-first organisation working across education, community health, women's livelihoods and emergency relief. We stay close to the ground — and we stay for the long term.

Origin

Started in 2014, from a classroom that had no teacher after lunch.

A group of educators in Jaipur began covering a cluster of government schools where posts sat empty for months. The work widened — first to health camps when children kept missing class with treatable illness, then to women’s groups when mothers asked for a way to pay fees without borrowing.

The name is deliberate. Mukhya — principal, foremost. The person in the room comes before the project document.

How we work

Three rules we do not break.

01

Stay after the photograph

Every programme is designed for a minimum of three years in the same panchayat. We do not parachute, publish, and leave.

02

Hire locally, report plainly

Field coordinators come from the block. Accounts are published. Donors receive a letter, not a brochure, when money is used.

03

Measure what families feel

Attendance, wages, immunisation, and whether a girl is still in school in March. Vanity metrics do not enter the annual note.
